Our people

As a family-owned business in Kent we are down to earth, personable and always professional, and so are our people.

Meet our leadership team to give you a glimpse of what makes us tick…

 Nigel Potter
  • 30+ years in the IT industry
  • Founded Select Technology in 1994
  • Nigel is a keen scuba diver and loves fishing

Nigel Potter

Executive Chairman

Nigel, creator of Select Technology has seen the business develop from a “one man band” to a thriving success, employing more than 40 people.

After studying electronics, Nigel became a Computer Engineer, working on machines such as Commodores, Apricots and early IBMs. During this time Nigel built a vast technical knowledge and developed his customer service skills which provided a great base in his next role as a Technical Sales Consultant. Merging the two skills allowed Nigel to solve client needs quickly and act as a bridge between the client and the technical teams.

With these skills gained, Nigel dipped his toes in the self-employed world as a consultant, and then finally took the plunge with a loan from the bank, renting offices in Sevenoaks and creating Select Technology.

From the start, Nigel’s ambition was to push the boundaries of what people think of when it comes to IT, and he has successfully evolved the business from the break/fix IT support model, to the proactive managed service we offer today. Over the years he has continually evolved the business, developing, learning and striving to be the best. This customer-focused ethos has proved a winning formula over the past 30 years.

These days, while Nigel remains integral to leading the business, having a strong and trusted management team with the right skills around him has meant he has happily relinquished more responsibility to Nick and Simon.

Nigel has many hobbies and interests that keep him busy outside of work. From motorcycling and scuba diving, to countryside walks and fishing, he relishes being in the great outdoors.

Nick Potter

Managing Director

Nick, son of Nigel, ruler of Select Technology!

Nick has been part of our history from an early age. He started out as a Saturday boy while at college, progressing to the role of Engineer, working on servers and networks, before moving to account management.

This is where Nick found an uncanny ability to forge strong and lasting client relationships. With a technical background and an ever-growing business knowledge, Nick understands our clients’ technology needs and works with them to provide the very best solutions and service possible.

As Managing Director, Nick’s role has evolved to focus on the future success of the business. He is instrumental in building strategies that will better support our clients, and creating a vision for the business that continues to showcase Select Technology as a world class managed IT service provider in Kent and the South East.

Nick is currently learning to kite surf at Cambersands; if you have a free weekend and need a laugh, head on down and watch him wipe-out! He also has a keen interest in reading about World War II and has visited sites in France. Of course, being part of an IT company, significantly, (and helpfully) he has an interest in the latest technology.

Nick Potter
  • Over 25 years at Select Technology
  • Nick is learning to kite surf, enjoys World War II history and the latest tech

Simon Moore
  • 25+ years in the IT industry
  • He’s been with Select Technology for over 15 years
  • Simon’s hobbies include pool, cooking, eating and travelling

Simon Moore

Technical Services Director

Using his extensive technical and customer service experience, Simon supports us to be one of Kent’s leading providers of Managed IT Services. Throughout his tenure at Select Technology, he has been instrumental in evolving our service desk to offer the world class customer care that you find today.

Simon began his career as an IT Technician for an investment firm in the city. The high pressure needs of the firm, both challenged and exhilarated Simon, and he quickly rose through the ranks. With a young family, Simon chose to work closer to home as an IT Manager and then as a consultant.

However, the allure of a challenge drew Simon to Select Technology. Simon has worked tirelessly over the years to build our managed services offering and develop the service desk, seeing the team grow from 3 to now over 20 members, and increasing our recurring revenue.

Outside of work, Simon’s interests include gaming (when he has the time!) and he also has a love of playing pool.
