Byte-sized AI: Bubble, bubble
I’m back for another Byte-sized AI issue, and as promised here are my three things: 😁
- Something that you can do to improve how you work
- Something techy from the news
- Something that made me laugh

📰 The one item of news:
Is this a bubble I see before me?
As sure as night follows day, a transformative technology creates an investment bubble. I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about how the AI bubble is sure to burst any minute, and then seen that followed up with assertions that this means the AI is all going to disappear.
Let’s have a look at some past investment bubbles: tulips; railways; the internet. Notice anything? In each case the bubble burst, and in each case the product is still with us. The current bubble around AI (if those more wise on these things than I are correct – I am not your financial advisor) will burst and some people will lose a lot of money. But I would be surprised if many of the people reading this are in that group.
Historical bubbles show that the issue is overvaluing the product and overvaluing the companies that claim to do magical things. The underlying product still has value and doesn’t go away. I am sure the next few years will see some consolidation, but your business will continue to benefit from the product.
Don’t believe the hype that companies that make no profit are worth a gazillion dollars. Don’t believe the hype that a correction will put everything back to 2015 either.t SMEs in particular have been left with little resources to help properly implement and benefit from the technology. The result, not surprisingly, is a lot of people feeling frustrated and disappointed.
😂 The one thing that made me laugh:
Why not?!

What’s the difference between morals and ethics?
Morals are a set of guidelines and rules for living a good life.
Ethics is between London and Suffolk.
💡 The one thing you can do next week:
Summarize it!
Here’s a quick, high-impact tip for anyone using Copilot for Microsoft 365:
Use “Summarize” in Outlook for Instant Context. When you open a long email thread or meeting invite in Outlook, click the Copilot icon and type:
“Summarize this conversation and highlight any actions for me.”
Copilot will:
- Condense the entire thread into a clear summary.
- Pull out key decisions, deadlines, and action items.
- Save you from scrolling through dozens of replies.
Bonus: You can follow up with:
“Draft a response confirming my next steps.”
This turns hours of email triage into seconds of clarity and action.

- Byte-sized AI: Its a little bit of snow! This week we have seen the government get behind AI in a big way. This was inevitable whoever was in power, I think. There are a few obvious challenges here:
- Byte-sized AI: Say hello to ClaudeFor the more technical parts of my job, I use an AI called Claude, which was created by Anthropic.
- Byte-sized AI: Granny is here to make it all better!O2 have created an AI that sounds like your gran! The obvious question is “why?”. Firstly, it doesn’t sound like your gran specifically, that would be weird; it’s a generic gran called Daisy, complete with confusion about technology and a tendency to talk about her cat too much. Still doesn’t answer why though.
- Byte-sized AI: A llama with AI and an admission!Meta are doing something very interesting. They have a set of AI models collectively called “Llama” which anyone can download and use in their products for free.
